Nutrition Education Intervention for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder





The aim of Autism Eats is to improve mealtime behaviors and dietary intake of young children (birth to 36 months) with autism spectrum disorder

There are 10 Lessons and 2 Booster Lessons in the program

Lesson 1

Feeding Milestones

Learn how to encourage your child to make progress reaching their next feeding milestone.

Lesson 2

Sensory Properties of Foods

Explore how your child responds to foods based on how they look, sound, feel, and taste.

Lesson 3

Introducing New Foods

Understand and utilize strategies for introducing new foods into your child's diet.

Lesson 4

Eating a Balanced Diet and Nutrition

Examine the benefits of healthy foods and how to include them in your child's diet.

Lesson 5

Food Sensitivities and Supplementation

Understand how to meet special dietary restrictions and learn the right foods for the supplements they need.

Lesson 6

Choosing Beverages

Identify healthy beverages and the consumption amounts appropriate for your child's age.

Lesson 7

Mealtime Routines

Establish an eating schedule with your child to promote healthy eating behaviors.

Lesson 8

Restructuring the Food Environment

Develop strategies to prevent problematic mealtime behaviors and maintain healthy eating away from home.

Lesson 9

Hunger and Fullness Cues

Recognize when your child is hungry and when they are satiated.

Maintaining Healthy Nutrition

Create a strategy to instill life-long healthy eating habits in your child.
